Superstitions, a Mindy conviction

superstitionsSince ages, superstitions have been an integral part of every day’s life unconsciously, and even if they have experienced many alterations, they still continue to remain with us in our minds today, with no immediate signs of fading. Entrenched principles or proactive thoughts are not the source of superstitions, but fear of the unknown is its germination point.

In precise words, superstitions are inconsistent beliefs about good luck or bad luck, talismans, fortunes and misfortunes, cures and portents, omens and predictions, fate and spells. However, bad fallacies extremely overshadow the good owing to the fact that many people still believe that prophecies can forecast our fortune and misfortune -- predominantly for the worse. Here, are

some popular bad luck or misfortune or ghost-linked omens that people strongly believe in:

Black cats
Black cats have long been alleged as ghostly omen, in view of the fact that the witches or evil spirits were allied with black cats. This is the source of highly coveted superstition, which states- “On the pathway while walking, if a black cat happens to cross your way; a bad luck will linger upon you.” Recalled?

Owls
It is believed that bad luck or death will be empowering you, if, you see an owl in the broad daylight or if it happens to look in your window.

Shattered Mirrors
A primeval fallacy believed mirrors to exhibit our actual souls. In context with this, a shattered mirror corresponds to the soul being off track from the body. The soul going astray usually referred to espousing wrong or immoral ways. To prevent this from happening, one is recommended to wait for seven hours (one for every year of hard luck) before picking up those shattered pieces, and then bury them in the outer surface in the moonlight.

Ladders
There used to be days when in, nonexistence of gallows, criminals were dangled from the top tread of a ladder and killed. Thereafter, people believed existence of their haunting spirits underneath the ladder. Common legends believe it to be bad luck to walk below an open ladder and pass through the triangle of wicked ghosts and spirits.

Ominous no #13
The belief of no #13 to be ill-fated and fear allied to it is still common today. This is the reason why people avoid it in several numbers of ways. For instances- people avoid going elsewhere on 13th, also some buildings still do not prefer to have an official 13th floor, or even if it has, they are rarely occupied by tenants.

Oh! Even you are the one, caught in the maze of superstitions? So, beware of the ones, mentioned above.
